  • Zionism on the rise!

This morning in church the pastor didn't preach. I guess that's not the story that I was going to tell, but it's a side-story. Rather than pastor Jim, a guy named Joe (from Nairobi—that's in Kenya) is preaching. His text? Ephesians 2. (Oh, my... A whole chapter! And it's not in about end times theology!)

So I read Ephesians 2. And it's good. "Christ is our peace," it says, "So that there's no distinction between citizens of Israel and those who were far away from Israel. In fact, you are all fellow-citizens of God's household." (Umm, that's verses 14 and 19)

Which means that I'm an Israeli, right? I think it does.

    Zionism on the rise!

  • good question... hhhmmmm... actually I'm taking this to mean everyone is the same, not different races, but then again maybe you are Israeli... who knows...

  • Good question that you pose at the end of this one.  However, no need to “stagger” over it, Peripatetic.   Although you may not be an Israeli, the Scripture is nevertheless telling you- if you can accept it- that you are indeed an “Israelite”.  No, that term didn’t go out with the crossing of the Red Sea.  It is very much applicable to us today… i.e., we who are in Christ. Yes, Zionism is on the rise.  Ironically, it may just be a little bit of “Aristotelian Syllogism" that might help you see this point- about you being an "Israelite"- more clearly.  Therefore, please check out this article to further understand your Scriptural designation as an “Israelite”: ‘Was Jeremiah Speaking of You?...’.  Hope that it’ll be a blessing to you.
    Shalom,
    Avi
